The 86.1MW wind project located in South Jordan completes construction and enters commercial operation
ARWF will serve the average annual electricity needs of more than 53,000 households
Alcazar Energy, a leading independent renewable energy producer in the broader META region, recently announced completion and commencement of commercial operation of the Al Rajef Wind Farm development in Jordan.
The wind farm with a project cost of ca USD 185 million, financed by EBRD, Proparco and DEG, supports Jordan’s ambitious renewable energy targets and could generate the country approximately USD 15 million in gas savings from the displacement of fossil fuels. In addition to which, ARWF will save more than 160,000 tonnes of CO2 and 380,000 m3 of water per year.
The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), responsible for the Kingdom’s electrical power system issued the Commercial Operation Date (COD) Certificate for Al Rajef Wind Farm on the 30th October 2018 facilitating the export of electricity in line with stated tariffs.
Daniel Calderon, Co-Founder & CEO of Alcazar Energy who will be speaking at next month’s summit said: “The COD announcement of Al Rajef Wind Farm is a significant milestone in the company’s journey and underscores our commitment to the region. Alcazar Energy appreciates the support and trust of the Government of Jordan, our partners, investors and lenders that enabled us to deliver the project on time in accordance with the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) and within budget. We look forward to completing the construction of Shobak next year, our 45MW wind farm, and continuing to grow our Jordanian wind and solar portfolio.”
